More Than Just the Facts on Darrell Webb Band
 |
Darrell Webb
Band Leader, Vocals, Mandolin Darrell Webb is a Grammy nominated session musician as well as an IBMA and SPBGMA award winner. He has recorded with Dolly Parton, Bobby Hicks, Marty Rabon and the queen of bluegrass Rhonda Vincent. His 20 year career includes performing with legendary banjo pioneer J.D. Crowe and the Lonesome River Band. Darrell has appearing on stage with Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Dierks Bentley, Doyle Lawson, and Ken Mellons.
Darrell's Mandolins Darrell Webb plays a Parson's Mandolin and a Hutto Mandolin. Both mandolins are finely crafted artisan mandolins made in the USA. Will Parsons and the late John Hutto custom made each mandolin to fit Darrell's preferences and style. Will Parsons lives in Tennessee and continues to craft fine instruments. John Hutto passed away in 2004. He was from Augusta, Georgia but was living in Tennessee at the time of his death. Our best research shows he built around 150 mandolins in his lifetime. The Hutto Mandolin is one of the most sought out instruments in all of traditional bluegrass and roots music.
Darrell's Guitar Darrell Webb plays a Winfield CW (Clarence White) model Colling's Guitar. His guitar was featured on Live at Bellamys, Bloodline, and Smash Hits of Bluegrass. Smash Hits of Bluegrass is a live recording by Mashville Brigade. This project was recorded at the World Famous Station Inn in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jake Joins
Vocals, Dobro Jake's Resonator Guitar Jake Joins plays a Wayne Henderson Resonator Guitar. Wayne Henderson is an awarding winning finger style guitar picker. His guitar playing has also been enjoyed at Carnegie Hall, in three national tours of "Masters of the Steel-String Guitar", and in seven nations throughout Asia. In addition to his reputation as a guitarist, Henderson is a luthier of great renown. He is a recipient of a 1995 National Heritage Award presented by the National Endowment for the Arts. He produces about 20 instruments a year, mostly guitars; he is almost as well-known for the mandolins he has made. Doc Watson, a good friend who sometimes stops at Wayne's shop in Rugby, VA, to pick a few tunes, owns a Henderson mandolin. He said, "That Henderson mandolin is as good as any I've had my hands on. And that's saying a lot, because I've picked up some good ones."
